A Seminole man was arrested following a vehicle pursuit that ended with the suspect vehicle crashing into a tree.

Deputies initially responded to a call of a suspect loitering and prowling outside a private residence located at 887 Franklin Circle in Dunedin. Deputies responded at about 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2009.

According to deputies, the suspect was tapping on windows and prowling around the home where his former girlfriend was staying. She became frightened and called 911.

As deputies arrived on scene, the suspect entered his vehicle and fled from the location. A responding deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the suspect continued to flee. No pursuit was initiated at this point.

Deputies say that the suspect proceeded to drive through the neighborhood at a high rate of speed and in a reckless manner. The suspect was seen by other units as he continued his erratic driving. 

The suspect then drove past Mease Dunedin Hospital and the Sheriff's Office North District Station located at 737 Louden Avenue in Dunedin where a deputy, who intended to deploy stop sticks, saw the vehicle continue on in a reckless manner. The deputy initiated a pursuit.

The pursuit ended when the suspect lost control of the vehicle at a round-about near the intersection of North Martin Luther King and Palmetto Street in Clearwater and crashed into an oak tree.

The suspect identified as 22-year-old Anthony Michael Hodson was transported by ambulance to Morton Plant Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
 
Hodson was arrested for two-counts fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, felony habitual traffic violation, loitering and prowling, and an unrelated VOP resisting arrest without violence.
