What:  Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit have arrested the get away driver in connection with a July 2009 armed robbery of a convenience store.

Where:  The suspect was arrested at his residence located at 4030 26th Street North in St. Petersburg.

The armed robbery occurred at the B and N convenience store located at 4700 28th Street in unincorporated St. Petersburg.

When:  The suspect was arrested on Thursday, October 1, 2009.

The robbery occurred on Sunday July 19, 2009.

How/Why:  

Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit have arrested the get away driver in connection with a July 2009 armed robbery of a convenience store. The suspect was arrested at his residence located at 4030 26th Street North in St. Petersburg on Thursday, October 1, 2009.

Detectives received information that the suspect had been involved in the armed robbery of the B and N convenience store located at 4700 28th Street in St. Petersburg. Detectives made contact with the suspect at his residence and arrested him without further incident.

The suspect identified as 36-year-old Robert Ankrum was arrested for armed robbery.  

The suspect admitted he was the driver.

The suspect who entered the business is still at large. Detectives say the suspect entered the store, pointed a gun at the two clerks, demanded they open the register and give him money. The clerks complied and the suspect exited the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Deputies say the suspect then fled in a green 4-door Saturn being driven by the suspect now under arrest. For further details see Press Release #09-173.
