How/Why: Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating a crash involving a motorcycle and a Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV. The motorcyclist was killed in the crash. Deputies responded to the crash at about 3:13 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2009. The crash occurred on CR1 just south of San Christopher Drive in Dunedin.
According to investigators the Chevy Trailblazer driven by 42-year-old Michelle Reinhardt pulled out of the post office driveway and struck the motorcycle which was headed southbound in the median lane on County Road 1.
The motorcyclist identified as 48-year-old John Earl Beebe, was ejected from the motorcycle and subsequently transported to Mease-Dunedin Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. He was later pronounced deceased at 4:08 p.m. at the hospital.
Deputies say it appears Beebe was wearing a helmet.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
No one has been cited.
