Brown was arrested in his home this afternoon, Monday, September 21st, after a search warrant of his home revealed he had child pornography in his possession, after being identified "as a person who was distributing child pornography" during an undercover investigation. He was arrested without incident and charged.
Detectives say Brown was in the act of downloading child pornography when the search warrant was being executed at his home.

When: Brown was arrested just after 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 21, 2009.
How/Why: As part of an ongoing investigation into the downloading and distribution of child pornography on the internet, Pinellas Sheriff's Crimes Against Children detectives have arrested Charles J. Brown on five counts of Sexual Performance By A Child.
Brown was arrested at his residence where detectives executed a search warrant this afternoon, September 21, 2009.
Brown was found to have materials identified as child pornography in his possession in his home. Detectives say Brown was actually downloading more child pornography when detectives arrived to execute the search warrant at his home.
He is employed at All Children's Hospital as a security guard, however, detectives say that there is no evidence at this time to suggest that there was any misconduct on Brown's part in the workplace.
Detectives say the investigation began on August 21, 2009. Information came to this agency as a result of the ongoing proactive work by Sheriff's Crimes Against Children detectives and their association with the national and statewide Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and the "Operation Fair Play" initiative.
All Children's Hospital media relations staff will respond to any questions about Brown's association with that facility.
Brown's photo will be available once he is processed through inmate booking at the Jail.
