How/Why:

A Seminole man was arrested after sending pictures of explosive devices to his estranged wife and then leaving the explosives in the home.

The victim identified as 29-year-old Brandy Everett told deputies that while looking for something in her closet, she noticed a 'ziploc' bag containing devices which she believed to be dynamite or homemade bombs. She immediately exited the residence and called the Sheriff's Office.

According to deputies, Everett further stated that the devices were familiar to her as last month (August 2009), while she was out of town, her estranged husband had sent her photographs of those devices. The devices had been pictured on top of her kitchen counter. The pictures, she said were accompanied by what she described as suspicious and threatening text messages. Everett had saved the text messages and the photos she had received on her phone.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad was requested and responded to assist in the removal of the devices from the victim's closet. The devices were described as four commercial grade M-80's and two homemade explosive devices.

The suspect, 27-year-old Jason Steven Everett was subsequently arrested without incident at his place of employment. He was arrested for two-counts making, possessing, discharging a destructive device and one-count aggravated stalking.

Jason Everett admitted to sending the messages and being in possession of the explosives.
