What: James and Jacqueline Vanderbleek were operating their jet skies in the Gulf of Mexico just off the Pass-A-Grille public beach when Mr. Vanderbleek reportedly slowed suddenly, and Jacqueline ran her vessel over the stern of his vessel and crashed.

When: The incident occurred around 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 7, 2009.
How/Why: After the crash, another boater, identified as Ricky Cook of St. Petersburg, rescued Mr. Vanderbleek, and brought him to shore. Mr. Vanderbleek was transported to Bayfront Medical Center by ambulance with non life-threatening injuries. Jacqueline Vanderbleek sustained minor injuries and was treated and released. Sheriff's Marine Unit deputies investigated the crash and determined that Mr. Vanderbleek apparently slowed unexpectedly, and in an attempt to avoid his jet ski, Jacqueline Vanderbleek turned quickly, but was carried by a wave over the stern of her father's jet ski. |
