Update Begins:
Robert Ivan Schaeffer, the man who went missing overnight from his Clearwater home has been found. According to deputies Mr. Schaeffer returned home at about 8:30 a.m. on August 23, 2009. He is safe and in good spirits.

Deputies were advised of his return to the residence by family members. Deputies say it is not clear where Mr. Schaeffer spent the last several hours, as he has provided several accounts of his whereabouts.

A thank you is sent out to the media for their assistance in this case.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in locating a missing and endangered Clearwater man.

According to deputies, 84-year-old Robert Ivan Schaeffer was last seen in his home located at 2231 Utopian Drive East, Apartment 107 in Clearwater at about 9:00 p.m. on the evening of Saturday, August 22, 2009. His wife apparently woke up at about 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2009, realized he was no longer in the apartment and reported him missing.

Deputies say Mr. Schaeffer is reported to suffer from Alzheimer's and is not in possession of the medication that he requires on a daily basis.

Deputies have broadcast a description of Mr. Schaeffer to local law enforcement agencies and he is listed in the FCIC/NCIC system as missing and endangered.

Mr. Schaeffer is described as a white male, about 6' tall and weighing about 175 pounds. He has hazel eyes and gray hair. He is believed to be wearing a blue stripped pajama top. He is on foot.
