What:  In the early morning hours of August 2, 2009, several motorists reported that their vehicle windshields or another area of their car had been damaged by someone throwing pieces of cinderblock or bottles at their vehicles. The incidents occurred in the vicinity of Eastlake Rd. and Woodlands Parkway.

Deputies investigated and charged the two juveniles believed to be responsible, late Thursday, August 6, 2009. The incidents may have gone back as far as July 28th, as nearly 10 similar cases have been reported.

Where:  The two suspects were arrested without incident late Thursday, August 6th.

When:  Incidents of rock and bottle throwing at passing vehicles were reported by motorists from about July 28th through August 4th.

How/Why:

The arrests close at least 7-10 cases of vandalism involving rocks/bottles being thrown at passing vehicles in the vicinity of Eastlake Road and Woodlands Parkway. The Sheriff's Office began receiving complaints about this activity from about July 28th through August 4th. On August 4th, the two named subjects were stopped by deputies for loitering and prowling in the early hours of August 4th on a golf course near the area where the recent rock throwing activity was reported.

Through subsequent investigation, deputies obtained information that Dalton and Garapic might be involved in the activity which broke windshields, and caused fender and other body damage to passing vehicles.

When interviewed, the two admitted to their activity and were taken into custody without incident late Thursday, August 6th.

No drivers were hurt as a result of this activity.
