Deputies have arrested a man for aggravated assault with a firearm following a road rage incident on a bicycle. The incident occurred at 34th Street and 53rd Avenue in St. Petersburg at about 2:07 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2009.

According to deputies, the suspect was riding his bicycle north on 34^th Street. He was weaving in and out of traffic. The victims pulled up behind him in a vehicle and honked the horn in an attempt to get the suspect to move off the road. The suspect became angry and from his bicycle, slapped the victim’s windshield causing it to crack.

Deputies say the suspect began to leave the scene. The victims followed him and called 911. The suspects and victims eventually pulled off the roadway on 53^rd Avenue, where the suspect pulled out a pistol and pointed it at the victims in a threatening manner. The suspect also waved a badge at the victims; and the victims were able to see that the suspect had a set of handcuffs. The victims, who had remained in their car immediately backed away.
Deputies responded and located the suspect on 54^th Avenue North and 37th Street North,  where he was arrested.

Deputies say the pistol was recovered in a fanny pack on the suspect’s person. The pistol was loaded. The suspect did have a valid concealed weapons permit.  The suspect was also found to be in possession of handcuffs and a concealed weapons novelty badge.

The suspect identified as 55-year old Dale Arthur Single was arrested for two-counts aggravated assault with a firearm and one count criminal mischief.
