Arrested for lewd and lascivious battery; and unrelated charges of VOP for grand theft and possession of a controlled substance.
Victim is a 14-year-old female who is known to the suspect. Per FL Statute 119.071(2)(h)1 no further information will be released that would tend to identify the victim.
What:
Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested a man for L&L battery on a 14-year-old girl.
When:
The suspect was arrested on November 23, 2012.
The crime occurred on at least four separate occasions during the month of October 2012.
Where:
The crime occurred at a private residence in Clearwater.
Why/How:
Detectives began to investigate the case in early November 2012 after the victim disclosed to her sister that she had been touched by the suspect in a sexual manner. The sister reported the crime and detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit began to investigate.
According to detectives, the suspect identified as 30-year-old Jeffrey J. Lacava, inappropriately touched the 14-year-old victim on four occasions during the month of October.
Lacava was arrested for lewd and lascivious battery on a minor and was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident.
The investigation continues.
