The Sheriff’s PAL has established
educational and recreational programs in the Lealman area. A
multi-sports camp was offered during the summer school year break on
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons at the Wellington School.
Campers played volleyball, soccer, basketball and various other
games. A
field trip to Astro
Skate was also arranged with many of
the campers attempting to skate for the
first time. PAL
is currently looking for facilities that will allow us to offer
school year recreational opportunities, as well.
An aftercare program was recently started in the
former "County Connection Center" building. Hours of operation
during regular school days are 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. (2:00 – 5:00 p.m. on
Wednesdays) and 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. during school holidays.
Hours are 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on early release days. This program
offers homework assistance, field trips, recreation and nutrition. A
teen "Night Program" is in the planning stages.
