What:
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Child Protection Division received a generous donation of much needed items from Duke Energy Florida.

Where:
The items were delivered to the Child Protection Division located at 8550 Ulmerton Road in Largo.  

When:
The items were delivered at approximately 11:00 a.m. on August 24, 2018.

How/Why:
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Child Protection Division received a generous donation of much needed items from Duke Energy Florida.

Duke Energy Florida held a donation drive at their St. Petersburg office, after receiving a wish list of items needed to benefit the Child Protection Division “Kid’s Room.” This room is used for family visitation, and as a place children can play during a time of transition.  

Duke Energy titled their drive as the “Fill the Room” Campaign and raised over $500.00.

At approximately 11:00 a.m., on August 24, 2018, Duke Energy delivered three vehicles full of donated items to include storage bins, diapers, toys, games, videos, bath towels, beanbag chairs, a computer desk, children’s socks, underwear, and snacks, to the Child Protection Division located at 8550 Ulmerton Road in Largo.

Child Protection Division Captain Paul Carey stated, “Protecting children from abuse, abandonment, and neglect is our priority. When children do come into our care, it is an all hands on deck approach to providing them comfort, security and all the basic necessities. The resources provided by Duke Energy gives hope and encouragement to children in our care. We are so grateful for the Duke Energy Engineer team for taking this opportunity to give back to the most vulnerable citizens, our children.”
