Deputies arrest a Uber driver for forcefully stealing a gold necklace from a 17-year-old boy in Palm Harbor.

At about 2:25 a.m. on June, 4, 2017, deputies were called to a residence located at 2664 Wildwood Lane in Palm Harbor, for a report of a robbery.

When deputies arrived, they located the 17-year-old victim, and his friend. The victim told deputies that they were dropped off at the location by an Uber driver who was identified on the Uber app as “Alexander”.

According to the victim and witness, the Uber driver was dropping them off at their destination when the driver became agitated claiming that their fare was canceled. The driver said they owed him money.

Deputies say the victim and the witness exited the Uber driver’s vehicle and there was an argument. At some point during the argument, the Uber driver exited his vehicle and grabbed the victim’s gold necklace, forcefully pulling the necklace off the victim. The Uber driver got back in his vehicle and drove away with the victim’s necklace.
