Florida Association of Police Explorers

What:                                  
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 900 recently participated in the 2016 Florida Association of Police Explorers (F.A.P.E.) Delegates Training and Pistol Competition.

When:
The training took place on April 23, 2016 . The pistol competition took place on April 24, 2016.

Where:
The training and the competition were held in Hillsborough County, Florida. 

Why/How:
Sixteen members of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post #900 participated in the Florida Association of Police Explorers Delegates training and pistol competition. This two day event was held in Hillsborough County.

Explorer posts from around the state met for a full day of training to learn about various topics that included traffic stops, building clearing, high risk traffic stops, aircraft clearing, active attackers, and the physical agility course.

Explores then participated in a pistol competition that was held at the Walter C. Heinrich Practical Training Site located in Hillsborough County. Explorer Andrew Aponte took 2nd place in the Expert Division and Explorer Major Spencer Shaw took 3rd Place in the Expert Division.  Explorer Major Spencer Shaw, Explorer Sergeant Chase Fails, Explorer Corporal Conner Davis and Explorer Andrew Aponte participated in the Team Shooting Event and took 2nd Place Overall.

We are very proud of the efforts and the accomplishments of the Post 900 members. These young people have proven that a high level of commitment pays off. Congratulations Explorer Post 900!
