The crash occurred at approximately 9:23 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016.      

Where:
The crash occurred in the area of  County Road 1 and Burnham Lane in Dunedin.    

Why/How:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) are investigating a fatal motorcycle vs. car crash in Dunedin.    

According to investigators, at approximately 9:23 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016, the driver of a 2004 Dodge Durango was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of County Road 1 when he hit a motorcyclist head on.

The motorcyclist, identified as 38-year-old John Sorensen, was transported to a local hospital via Bayflite where he later died from his injuries.

Sorensen was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Durango, identified as 40-year-old Kenneth Cabral, suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Throughout the investigation, Cabral showed signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested and charged with one count of DUI Manslaughter.

Cabral was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident.

The investigation continues.
