Patrol Investigates Shooting

The victims are a 30-year-old female driver and her 7-year old daughter. Neither will be identified as the suspect is at large.

The suspect is unknown at this time. He is described as a black male in his 20s; and the suspect vehicle is described as a newer sedan, silver in color.

What:
Patrol deputies are investigating a shooting that occurred as the passenger of one vehicle fired various shots at another vehicle.

When:
The shooting incident occurred at about 1:50 p.m. on Thursday, November 26, 2015.

Where:
The shooting occurred at 52nd Avenue North and Haines Road in St. Petersburg.

Why/How:
According to deputies, the female victim was eastbound on 52nd Ave North. Deputies say she had stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Haines Road when the suspect vehicle pulled up behind her and then next to her, on the driver’s side. The victim’s 7 year old daughter was a passenger in the vehicle.

Deputies say the suspect who was in the passenger seat of a silver sedan, fired four shots at the victim’s car and fled the scene.

Deputies say at least one shot struck and shattered the driver’s side windows of the victim’s car. The victim sustained minor cuts on her arm due to the shattered glass.

The victim drove herself to Angelo’s Mini Mart located at 5050 Haines Road, where 911 one was called.

She received treatment on scene for the minor cuts to her arm.  

At this time deputies say the suspect and the motive are unknown.

The investigation continues.
