What:
A Pinellas Sheriff’s deputy rendered aide to a man choking at a local business, likely saving his life.    

When:
The incident occurred at about 8:42 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2015.

Where:
The incident occurred at the 7-Eleven convenient store located at 2789 SR 580, in Clearwater.

Why/How:
According to deputies, Deputy Matthew Davidson was on patrol conducting follow up near the 7-Eleven convenient store when he was approached by a store employee who was gasping for air.

The victim, Rusty Green, indicated to Deputy Davidson that he had something lodged in his throat and he could not breathe. Deputy Davidson reassured Green that he was going to perform the Heimlich maneuver and successfully dislodged a piece of chicken from the victim’s throat so he could breathe.

Paramedics responded and evaluated the victim who was uninjured.

    

Clearwater Firefighters presented Deputy Davidson with some "Junior Firefighter" gear for his swift action.
