DEA Law Enforcement Leadership Academy

What:
Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Corporal T’Nora Dessaw attended the DEA Law Enforcement Leadership Academy.

When:
The leadership academy took place from June 20th – 27th.  

Where:
The DEA Leadership Academy was held in Quantico, Virginia.

Why/How:
Explorer Corporal T’Nora Dessaw was chosen as one of 30 Explorers from across the country to attend the prestigious DEA Law Enforcement Leadership Academy located in Quantico, Virginia.  This leadership academy ran from June 20 - 27, 2015.  Classroom training occurred each day on topics such as history of the DEA, characteristics of team work, communication skills, critical decision-making strategies, and presentation speaking skills.  To build upon the Explorers' leadership skills, they had the opportunity to hear from various motivational speakers.  Explorers also worked together using their combined knowledge and resources to resolve several law enforcement-related scenarios, and they experienced memorable tours of the DEA base and the Holocaust Memorial Museum.   

Explorer Corporal Dessaw has been in the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Explorer Post #900 for the past year.  Corporal Dessaw has participated in many details in an effort to give back to the community and is a member of the Post's Drill Team.
