What:
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has released the results of “Operation Dry Spring 2015,” the Florida Sheriffs Task Force Spring operation.  “Operation Dry Spring 2015” focused on the sale and possession of alcohol and tobacco to underage youth, as well as, the sale and possession of synthetic drugs.

28 Florida Sheriff’s Offices participated in the operation and the results are as follows:

When:
“Operation Dry Spring 2015” was conducted over a four week period that took place from March 16 to April 12, 2015.

Where:
The operation was conducted county wide. A total of 28 County Sheriff’s Offices participated in the operation.

Why/How: 
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has released the results of “Operation Dry Spring 2015,” the Florida Sheriffs Task Force Spring operation.  “Operation Dry Spring 2015” focused on the sale and possession of alcohol and tobacco to underage youth, as well as, the sale and possession of synthetic drugs.

The goal of the four week long operation was to target and prevent underage drinking, tobacco use and the use of synthetic drugs.

“Operation Dry Spring 2015” was held March 16 to April 12, 2015 in conjunction with Spring Break schedules, allowing Sheriff’s Offices to focus on the potential heightened use of alcohol, tobacco and drugs by youth during this time period.

“The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is committed to the well-being of the children in our community. Operation Dry Spring 2015 sends a clear message to business owners throughout Pinellas County, that the sale of alcohol, tobacco and synthetic drugs to underage youth will not be tolerated,” said Sheriff’s Bob Gualtieri, Florida Sheriff’s Association, Task Force Chair.

During the operation, Sheriff’s Offices conducted random undercover business checks. Statistics regarding the possession and sale of alcohol, tobacco and drugs to underage youth were collected.
