How/Why:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are investigating a crash on 49th Street North just north of 110th Avenue North involving a PCSO Prisoner Transport Van. The crash occurred at approximately 9:24 AM on Monday March 23, 2015. The crash occurred on 49th Street North just north of 110th Avenue North.

According to investigators the 2005 Toyota Camry, driven by Christy Wilson, was travelling southbound on 49th Street North. Christy lost control of the Toyota on the wet roadway. This caused her to cross the median and strike the front of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Prisoner Transport Van head on as it was travelling northbound on 49th Street North in the median lane driven by G4S employee Necia Austin.

There was also a single passenger in PCSO custody, Duka Grbavac, who was handcuffed in the front of her body, and riding in the rear compartment of the van at the time of the crash.

All three parties were transported to local hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The investigation continues.
